UAE Educational IT Challenge 2008

1. Innovation Partner TRA
We are pleased to announce that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the UAE has joined the IT Challenge 2008 as "Innovation partner".

TRA is responsible for policy and future directions of Telecommunications in the UAE, playing a pivotal role in the development and transformation of the UAE as an information society. Representing the UAE at the World Radio-communication Conference, TRA will also administer the .ae domain. In addition to its vital role as a regulatory authority, TRA also sponsors a number of events that promote the use of technology and innovation, such as the Al Mawaheb Photography Team competition.

2. New Category "Mobile Applications"
To further develop the use of Mobile Applications in the UAE/GCC, a new category has been added to the UAE Challenge 2008. This new category is open to all projects related to the applied use of mobile technology, and sponsored by TRA. Projects can be entered online at the UAE Challenge website.


3. Official Launch of IT Challenge 2008
The 2008 Challenge was officially launched today in Abu Dhabi. Attending the launch were senior representatives from TRA, Dubal, Al Rostamani, Union National Bank and other sponsors.

Expansion to include more countries
A new Mobile Applications category
An Academic Conference with themes in education, technology and communications
A Career Fair, providing links between employers and talented graduates
