Educational IT Challenge

1. Official Launch
The UAE Educational IT Challenge will be officially launched on October
24th 2005, 11am, at the Dubai Men's College (HCT), Academic City, Dubai.
Sponsors, new initiatives and new categories will be announced. We
extend an invitation to you all to attend the official launch.
2. Calendar
The event calendar has been updated on the website. Provisional dates
for roadshows in Sharjah, Al Ain and Dubai have been added (subject

The project exhibition of finalist projects from the GCC will be held
on April 22nd 2006, which will be followed by the award ceremony with
trophies being presented by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan
Mabarak Al Nahayan. A gala dinner will follow the award ceremony.
Our special guest speaker from Hollywood USA will be on the morning
of April 23rd 2006.
All events
will be held at the Grand Hyatt Convention Center in Dubai. You can

3. Roadshows
Our staff will be making presentations about the IT Challenge at various
locations throughout the UAE. Presentations have already taken place
in Cairo and Muscat.
Roadshows will be held in Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain. We invite all
students and teachers to attend these presentations.
We will provide further information about dates and venues of the
roadshows in the next newsletter. For more information on a roadshow,

4. International Judges Appointed
A number of international judges have been appointed to the judging
panel. We welcome the following international judges appointed so far,
and will announce others shortly.

5. Global Junior Challenge 2006 (ROME) calls for projects
The Global Junior Challenge 2006 invites submission of new projects
for the 2006 competition.
The Global Junior Challenge http://www.gjc.it is a global award promoted
by the Digital Youth Consortium http://www.gioventudigitale.net , a
non-profit organization founded by the Municipality of Rome and six
major ICT companies. The intention of the award, dedicated to young
people and to schools, is to identify and reward best practices on
the use of new technologies in education and training of youngsters.
Deadline for submission of projects is 30 July 2006. More information
and details about the Global Junior Challenge 2006 can be found online

6. Stockholm Challenge open for projects
The international Stockholm Challenge is now open for entries, welcoming
ICT based projects from all over the world to enter the award and compete
for the Challenge trophies. The Prize giving ceremony will take place
in the Stockholm City Hall in May 2006 and all finalists will be invited
to participate in the event.The Stockholm Challenge is a very successful
international networking program for ICT entrepreneurs since almost
ten years.
