3. Whats New For 2004
This challenge brings many new and exciting additions. We are planning for a substantial increase in submitted projects and more continued success at international level. Last time, 235 projects were received, and the UAE achieved a finalist in both the Global Stockholm and Rome challenges. In fact, in one year the UAE went from last to 8th on the list of submitted projects to the Stockholm challenge, a fantastic effort and credit to the talented people here in the UAE and their projects.

There have been a lot of planning undertaken to improve and expand this UAE challenge. Here is a list of the main changes for 2004

  • the website has been updated and has regular content changes,
feature stories, events and up-to-the-minute details on project submissions
  • projects can be submitted and edited on-line
  • more press events are scheduled with greater press coverage
  • a fortnightly email/online newsletter provides details of the challenge and
other news to sponsors, participants and others
  • the international connection to Stockholm and Rome has been strengthened
  • roadshow presentations will be held in each emirate, providing information
about the challenge to schools, colleges and universities
  • roadshows provide an opportunity for key sponsors to meet and advertise their
    services
  • the event day has been expanded

We have looked at the event day and some significant improvements are planned. Amongst these are

  • internships and training opportunities for selected finalists/winners
  • venture capital funding for selected projects
  • vendor stands for sponsors to promote their services

The exhibition space will be split into TWO main areas

  • Finalist Projects
  • Business/Jobs - vendor stands for sponsors to promote their services, and to provide information on job opportunities for UAE nationals, training and venture capital

4. Upcoming Events
In October the first of a number of Roadshows will be launched to help publicize the challenge. Roadshows will be held in different emirates and during October, will be held in Dubai and Sharjah.
